My wife and I are western fans. However, there are not many of the newer westerns that are as good as the classic ones such as Bonanza. The problem us that too many producers today cannot be satisfied with just simple decency in movies or television. There is a reason the Ponderosa is a classic; it is descent, moral, family oriented and just pleasurable retreat from the tensions of the day. My wife has a Squidoo lens she has prepared where she gathers together all sorts of resources and materials on this beloved western. We invite you to join us at: The Bonanza TV Show.
My Opinion of the ancient TV show Bananza
July 29, 2008 by wbisbillConsider the life of Corrie ten Boom
July 28, 2008 by wbisbill
This past week I was reading on the life of Cornelia Johanna Arnolda ten Boom, generally known as Corrie ten Boom. It is fascinating how much strength I receive from looking at these precious saints of God and what they endured fro the cause of Christ. May I be as strong! I am reminded of Hebrews 12:1:
Heb 12:1 Therefore since we also are surrounded with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight and the sin which so easily besets us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us,

The 23rd Psalm – A Closer Look
June 6, 2008 by wbisbillWe look at this beautiful Psalm from NEW CEBTURY TRANSLATION
Psalms 23:1-6 The Lord is my shepherd; I have everything I need. (2) He lets me rest in green pastures. He leads me to calm water. (3) He gives me new strength. He leads me on paths that are right for the good of his name. (4) Even if I walk through a very dark valley, I will not be afraid, because you are with me. Your rod and your walking stick comfort me. (5) You prepare a meal for me in front of my enemies. You pour oil on my head; you fill my cup to overflowing. (6) Surely your goodness and love will be with me all my life, and I will live in the house of the Lord forever. A psalm of David.
I include the following notes from Fausset’s Bible Dictionary.
The shepherd’s office represents Jehovah’s tender care of His people (Psalm 23; Isa_40:11; Isa_49:9-10; Jer_23:3-4; Eze_34:11-12; Eze_34:23). Allusions occur to the exposure to heat and cold (Gen_31:40), the precarious food (Amo_7:14), the husks of the carob (Luk_15:16), the attacks of beasts (1Sa_17:34; Isa_31:4; Amo_3:12), robbers (Gen_31:39). The shepherd had a mantle of sheepskin with the fleece on (Jer_43:12), a wallet for food (1Sa_17:40), a sling such as the Bedouin still carries, a staff to ward off foes and to guide the flock with its crook (Psa_23:4; Zec_11:7; so Jehovah “lifts up His staff against” His people’s foes, Isa_10:1-24; His word is at once our prop of support and our defense against Satan). The shepherd, when far from home, had his light tent (Son_1:8), easily taken down and shifted (Isa_38:12).
